360 Hours / 9 Weeks / Five Days per Week
 
This is a professional grooming course. Upon graduation, you will be able to groom 8 dogs per day. You will have the knowledge and ability to be a professional groomer and open your own shop. All graduation students will receive an application to join the National Dog Groomers Association upon completion of this course. Students that excel will be given a free one year membership with the National Dog Groomers Association of America in recognition of their outstanding accomplishments.
 
  • You will learn how to groom all 152 breeds plus all the cat breeds and rare breeds as well.

  • You will learn the standard of all 7 groups recognized by the American Kennel Club.

  • Receive application to the National Dog Groomers Association.

  • Receive a subscription to Groomer to Groomer (the groomers choice) magazine.

  • Groom at least twenty dogs per week in class as well as cats.

  • Learn boarding kennel management.

  • Hand Scissoring Techniques.

  • First Aid and Emergency Care.

  • Anatomy and Physiology / Endo and Ecto Parasitology.

  • Clipper and blade care and maintenance.

  • Instructor is a Certified Master Groomer with over 25 years experience in the grooming industry and a Certified Veterinarian Technician.

  • No more than four students per class.
Occupational Objectives
 
Upon completion of this course you will become a professional groomer with excellent animal husbandry skills.
 
Continuing Education
 
You will receive further information about joining the National Dog Groomers Association as well as information on Groomers to Groomers magazine and regional seminars to enhance your further understanding of the grooming profession during your course of study.
 
Hours
 
This course is 360 hours and takes approximately twelve weeks to complete.
 
Diploma
 
Upon completion of this course you will receive a certificate of completion if you meet all requirements for graduation.
 
School Calendar
 
Classes are Tuesday thru Saturday from 8 am till 5 pm. Class start dates are January 3, 2006 till March 7, 2006 with graduation held on March 8, 2006. Make up dates are march 8 thru March 11, 2006. New classes begin March 14, 2006 till May 16, 2006. Graduation is held on May 17, 2006 and make up dates are May 17 thru May 20, 2006. There is no class on Christmas and New Years Day or Thanksgiving. If class falls on one of these days an extra day is added to the class. Our classes run every nine weeks. I do also have part time students but part time students have to be there eight hours in order to get the benefits needed to become a groomer. My class sizes are limited because I want to give you the best education possible. Maximum class size is four students.
 
Tuition
 
Tuition is $4.000 for the complete course, payment plans available but tuition must be paid in full before end of course.
 
Attendance and Conduct
 
1. Tardiness: If you are going to be tardy, please call the school. You will have to make up any test missed and you will have hours added to your end date.
2. Absences: Please call if you are going to be absent, you have to make up any work missed and you will have an extra day added to your end date.
3. Make Up Work: Please see AnnMarie for any work you need to make up.
4. Conduct: Any physical abuse or neglect of any animals will not be tolerated, This will be cause for immediate dismissal. Any monies due will be returned to the student as per our policies for returning funds.
Smoking is not allowed inside the building. There is a smoking area behind the building.
Smoking breaks will be limited.
Foul language is unacceptable and will be reprimanded. All employees, patrons and fellow students should at all times be treated with respect.
5.Reentry: If you are dismissed from this program you will normally not be allowed to reenter. If you need to leave the program you may reenter at any start date as long as we are given formal notice in writing of your reentry.
 
Standard of Progress
 
1. Grading System Used: We use a sliding scale grading system.
2. Minimum Scores Required: The Minimum score on any test written or practical is 80%. If you fail any test it is taken over until you receive an 80% or above.
3. Academic probation/ Suspension policies: If you repeatedly fail your tests you will be pu on academic probation. If you injure an animal more than once due to negligence you will be immediately suspended from the program and will not be allowed to reenter.
4. Maintenance of Progress Records: We have a grading book where we maintain all progress records. For each student. Any student may see there progress records at any time.
5. Reporting Progress to Students: We report to students on a daily basis.
6. Graduation Requirements: All students are required to have 360 hours of study before graduation. There certificate will be withheld until they complete there hours. They also must score at least an 80% on all aspects of course study. Those that are exceptional students will be given special recognition at our awards ceremony and there first year in our National Organization free of charge.

All the equipment I have listed is necessary equipment and the best you can buy, Please don't buy other blades without discussing it with me first. Total kit cost is approximately $600.00. There are no refunds on tools and equipment.
 
Admission Requirements
 
All students should have a high school diploma or the equivalent (GED). Students should have a strong back and good hand eye coordination. Prior experience with animals is very helpful but not necessary. You must have a love and respect for animals. All students must have a tetanus vaccine within the last five years or receive one before entering the program. All students must also be aware that they will be working with live animals and may get bitten or scratched and that our corporation is not liable for any injuries incurred by students during there field of study.

Under most circumstances there will be no credit given for previous experience.
